Norton Remove and Reinstall tool

Norton Antivirus Not Working After PC Clock Change? [TRY THIS!]

Norton Antivirus has been my go to software suite for a while now.

However a recent PC bios problem altered the time and date in Windows, which caused havoc with my Norton suite.

This caused my Norton Antivirus license to actually expire early!

So how did I fix this? Read on to find out!

Norton Antivirus Not Working After Windows Time & Date Change

If your Windows operating system is not showing the correct time and date this can actually throw some applications into disarray.

Some apps will check the current Windows time & date and use this to check if the product license is still in date (despite having registration dates stored remotely that are to the contrary).

In my case, because Windows was showing a date way in the future, Norton believed its license had expired, and deactivated itself!

Despite updating the Windows time and date to the correct values, Norton was still showing the license as expired.

I did some reading around, and tried tweaking certain settings. However the solution was more straightforward than I anticipated.

I discovered that by simply running the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool, I could reset my Norton product completely.

Simply follow the following steps in order to install this handy tool.

1/Amend Time & Date

Firstly, ensure your PC is showing the correct time and date.

This is done by right clicking on the time/date reading at the bottom right of the screen in Windows, and selecting ‘Adjust time/date’. Then click ‘Sync Now’ to update your clock to the correct setting.

2/ Download Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool

This can be downloaded directly from Norton. For the most up to date version check this link at norton.com and select ‘Download the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool‘.

Once you download and open the tool, this will run you through a step by step reinstallation process for Norton.

This may sound long-winded, but the process is painless, and doesn’t take longer than a couple of minutes.

Once the process is complete, Norton should automatically load as normal.

Because you are essentially reinstalling Norton, there may be some updates that need to run off the back of this process.

Just look for those nice healthy green ticks on the Norton dashboard which show that the software is now working correctly.

You may then delete the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool setup file that you downloaded.

Conclusion…

Hopefully you found this guide useful.

The Norton Remove and Reinstall tool makes it easy to fix faults quickly, without leaving your device vulnerable to cyber attacks.
