Bring up the in-game settings menu, this will likely be via the start button or esc key depending on what system you are playing. Then select the ‘Game’ tab.
The very top option will be ‘First-Person Mode’ On/Off.
Once you select this the game will automatically switch to first person, no need to restart the game.
Be mindful that the game is not paused when you bring this menu up, and you are still susceptible to attack.

The PC version of this game has a keyboard shortcut which can be used without the need to access an in-game menu.
Simply press the ‘V’ key and the game will rotate between the available view modes in the game.
These are third-person, third-person close up, and first-person.
