How you will display recent players will depend on whether you are running the game in Steam, or via Epic Games Launcher.
Rocket League is now only available on Epic Games store. However, for a time it was available on Steam.
Viewing Recent Players In Rocket League Using Epic Games Launcher
Firstly you need to launch your friends tab.
This is typically done from a menu screen, by either clicking on the friends icon in the bottom right of the screen, or pressing the associated button on your controller (for example the RT button on an XBox controller).
Once the friends tab is displayed, select the recent players tab, which is normally the second tab along.
From here you will see the last 25 players that you have played with or against.
You can interact with each player name, and can bring up options such as adding them as a friend, or blocking them.

Press the Shift + Tab keys on bring up the Steam overlay.
On the Friends tile click the ‘View Players’ button.
In the Players window click the ‘Recent Games’ tab.
You will then see a list of players you can interact with.
